It’s About the Journey…

Well, as this is my first “real” post on the site, I thought I’d start off with a bit of my personal philosophy regarding why I do what I do.

For me, I like to think that it’s all about the journey… taking something worn out or abandoned and putting it back as it once was (or close), about the learning and developing new skills.  I’m not a “flipper”, in fact, I rarely sell anything.  I could care less about making money off what I do.  That’s because I only own own, restore or recondition those projects that interest me. Frankly, if it’s not pretty much a junker, I’m probably not interested.  If it’s too nice, there’s no challenge.  If you don’t believe me, you can ask my friends.

However, I have to admit, once I’m completely finished with a project, it’s quite anticlimactic for me… kinda like, “it’s finished, what now?”  If the project was a full restoration, it’s too nice to really use due to the sheer amount of time and money invested.  It admittedly becomes a trailer and show queen, kept carefully stored and covered when not being actively displayed.

Though I’ve had a motorcycle endorsement since I was 16, I’m not really into riding much, either these days.  An occasional local ride when the weather’s perfect… that ‘s about it.

So, I can truly say that for me, “It’s the journey that’s important, not the destination”.
